Yes, as long as the bone conditions are favorable for this, the implant can indeed be done in the same tooth extraction surgery, this reduces the total time to complete the treatment.

But as said, it is only possible if the conditions of the bone where the extraction is taking place allow it. The bone must be free of infections and cysts, and must have sufficient height and thickness to support the implant, otherwise it is necessary to wait a period of 60 to 90 days for enough bone to form to install the implant.

This can be done even in protocol-type prostheses, which are prostheses that replace conventional dentures. And if conditions are favorable, even the prosthesis can be installed on the same day, it's what we call an immediate load prosthesis ( read more about it here ).

So, in order for the implant to be installed right after extraction, we need to:

  • healthy bone

  • Free from infections and cysts

  • with sufficient height and thickness to support the implant
